Barney's Version (2010)

Based on seriocomic adaptation of Mordecai Richler's award-winning 1997 novel, the film tells the unusual journey of Barney Panofsky; his highs and lows, his lost and love. The strength of the movie lies in the hand of the talented casts and the beautifully and well written script. Paul Giamatti is perfect portraying Barney, you can actually feel for this pathetic, misguided, adolescent shell of a man. The supporting casts also play their part. But they are all overshadowed by Dustin Hoffman in the role of Barney's father and loyal right-hand man. Barney's Version is not only entertaining, but also deeply human and full of humour and tragedy that will touch our hearts and our minds.
